Early Care & Education Professionals are tasked with a great deal of responsibility. Many in such significant caregiving roles also have so many responsibilities beyond their professional obligations that they compromise their own needs. While it can be challenging to prioritize when you have so many other items on your to-do list, self-care is an important aspect of managing stress.
Benefits of Self-Care for ECE Professionals
Humans, no matter what their career path, are more resilient and more able to handle life's stress when we feel our best--physically, mentally, emotionally, and physically. It is a fact that people who neglect their own needs and forget to nurture themselves are at danger of deeper levels of unhappiness, low self-esteem, and feelings of resentment. Alternately, people who spend their time only taking care of others can be at risk of getting burned out, which makes it more difficult to care for others or themselves. Ultimately, taking time to care for yourself regularly can make you a better caretaker and teacher for others, making a self-care regimen vitally important for ECE Professionals, as well as the little ones they serve.
